Jordan's King Abdullah met with members of the House Armed Services Committee on Tuesday after ISIS released a horrific video of a captured Jordanian pilot being burned alive. Not only was the king angry, he vowed revenge - and quoted Clint Eastwood in the process.
Republican Rep. Duncan Hunter Jr., a Marine Corps veteran of two tours in Iraq and one in Afghanistan, who was in the meeting with the king, explained:
“He said there is going to be retribution like ISIS hasn't seen. He mentioned Unforgiven and he mentioned Clint Eastwood, and he actually quoted a part of the movie.”
While Hunter wouldn't say which part of the movie Abdullah quoted, he did say that it was a scene in which Eastwood's character described how he was going to get revenge:
“Any man I see out there, I'm gonna kill him. Any son-of-a bitch takes a shot at me, I'm not only going to kill him, I'm going to kill his wife and all his friends and burn his damn house down.”
And there was more to Abdullah's response than rhetoric: Within 24 hours of the video's release, Jordan not only executed two ISIS terrorists, it vowed an “earth-shaking response” to the barbaric murder.
Incidentally, when ISIS beheaded American journalist James Foley, President Obama was criticized after making a brief statement before heading to the golf course minutes later.
