IOWA CITY — At the University of Iowa tonight massive crowds of students gathered to hear self-proclaimed Democratic Socialist Bernie Sanders speak and to listen to the popular #millennial band Vampire Weekend. Organizers for the event list the number of attendees officially at 3802. The Fire Marshal at the event confirmed to Independent Journal that approximately 500 more people were turned away.

Sanders is closing in on Iowa frontrunner Hillary Clinton in the latest polls. According to the recent Des Moines Register/Bloomberg Politics poll, Clinton edges Sanders 45 percent to 42 percent of likely Democratic caucusgoers.
