With an explosive social media account and iconic fashion moments, runway model and cover girl Gigi Hadid is no stranger to the limelight.
Hadid has branched out from modeling several times throughout her young career, but after the American Music Awards (AMAs) the internet is begging her to stick to her day job.
While hosting the awards show Sunday night alongside co-host Jay Pharoah—who's best known for his impressions as a cast member on SNL—Hadid very publicly attempted her first political impression.
She targeted the nation's soon-to-be First Lady, Melania Trump...and then Twitter targeted her.
In a strained Slovene accent, Hadid mocked Melania's intellect:
“I love my husband, President Barack Obama, and our children, Sasha and Malia.”
And like a supportive co-host, Pharoah applauded her:
“That's spot on! That was spot on!”
But a lot of people took to Twitter and called out the star for having a double standard:
And highlighted Hadid's “hypocrisy”:
One woman definitely didn't hold back her feelings about the star:
Some commented on Hadid's “privilege”:
And one person was left simply confused:
This person even tried to predict the future:
However, some really appreciated the humor in Hadid's act:
And just laughed at what Hadid meant to be funny:
But whether critical or supportive, most people agreed that Hadid should “stick to modeling”:
So far, Hadid hasn't addressed the backlash...But there's no way she hasn't seen it.
