Donald Trump took Arnold Schwarzenegger in his social media sights today, supposedly over “The Celebrity Apprentice.”
But the real beef may be about something else entirely.
Earlier this morning, Trump tweeted that that the Schwarzenegger-hosted new season of “The Celebrity Apprentice” is getting “swamped (or destroyed) by comparison to the ratings machine, DJT,” adding:
"So much for being a movie star-and that was season 1 compared to season 14. Now compare him to my season 1.
But who cares, he supported Kasich & Hillary."
Ten minutes later the President-elect finished his thought, which is seemingly when what was really irking him came to light:
“But who cares, he supported Kasich & Hillary.”
While the statement is accurate—the show's season 1 rating was an 18, while Schwarzenegger's first season is currently at a 4.9—but what Trump didn't mention is that in the last season he hosted, the ratings had fallen to 6.
Regardless, it seems that the real reason for the bad blood is that Schwarzenegger didn't support Trump during the election cycle—opting instead to put his star power behind Clinton and Kasich.
But there could be even another thing that's annoying Trump: if Schwarzenegger's “Apprentice” does well, Trump profits big time. If not—well, Twitter will always be there.
