In the wake of a terrorist attack that took place in London Wednesday, four people have been pronounced dead so far, including a police officer. The suspect was also killed by police officers.
The suspect sped his vehicle down the Westminster Bridge, where he plowed into numerous people, injuring a total of 29. He then crashed his gray Hyundai just outside Palace of Westminster before trying to enter the building with a knife:
It was there that the terrorist used the knife to kill the unarmed police officer, 48-year-old PC Keith Palmer, before he was shot by police:
Footage from the horrific attack shows the suspect speeding across the bridge, knocking civilians down like domino pieces.
In newly released footage, a woman is shown jumping — or falling — off the bridge into the cold water to avoid being struck by the terrorist:
The woman miraculously survived the massive drop. According to reports, the woman was found treading in the water around 2:49 p.m.
A spokesman for the Port of London Authority told The Guardian:
“A female member of the public was recovered from the water near Westminster Bridge. She is alive but undergoing urgent medical treatment on a nearby pier. We believe she fell from the bridge.”
“We have closed the river. The only person in the river we are aware of following the incident is this female.”
Witness Steve Voake walked along the bridge in the aftermath of the carnage and said he could see two bodies lying on the road, and when he looked over the bridge, he saw the woman floating in the water, surrounded by blood:
“And when I looked over the side, there was another body lying in the water with blood all around it.”
The identity of the woman has yet to be disclosed.
