Homeland Security Secretary John Kelly’s private joke to President Donald Trump was caught on a hot mic during the president’s appearance at the United States Coast Guard commencement ceremony on Tuesday.
Moments after Trump was handed his ceremonial Coast Guard saber, Kelly leaned over and said to the president: “Use it on the press, sir.”

President Trump seemed to enjoy the joke as it brought a smile to both of their faces.
Trump delivered a speech at the Coast Guard commencement, during which he told the graduating class that “nothing worth doing ever, ever, ever comes easy — the more righteous your fight, the more opposition you’ll face.”
However, he also took shots at the media over what he considers to be unfair treatment by the press:
“Over the course of your life, you will find that things are not always fair and that things happen to you that you do not deserve, and that are not always warranted, but you have to put your head down and fight, fight, fight.
No politician in history has been treated worse or more unfairly” by the media."
The media better watch out, because now Trump has a saber.
