Authorities arrested golfer Tiger Woods on Monday for allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol.
The top golfer won 79 PGA Tour titles but took a break from playing after struggling with his back. He withdrew from his last competition at the Dubai Desert Classic in February.
Woods released a statement last week, explaining both his physical state and his intention to once again play golf:
I want to say unequivocally, I want to play professional golf again. Presently, I’m not looking ahead. I can’t twist for another two-and-a-half to three months. Right now, my sole focus is rehab and doing what the doctors tell me. I am concentrating on short-term goals.”
Woods had his fourth back surgery in April and said his prognosis was “positive”:
As for returning to competitive golf, the long-term prognosis is positive. My surgeon and physiotherapist say the operation was successful. It’s just a matter of not screwing up
