Oreo Pence, the beloved feline of the family of Vice President Mike Pence, died Saturday at the age of 13.
His life, albeit a short one, touched the lives of so many — especially his 23-year-old human sister Audrey. Oreo lived a life of service to his constituents, standing alongside his father as he went from congressman to governor to vice president.
The feline accepted his role required a certain level of decorum and enjoyed donning matching tuxedos with the vice president.
Although already in his golden years by the time the family moved to Washington D.C., Oreo understood the need for a cat presence in politics. When he noticed animals were absent from the White House, he joined his fur-siblings, Marlon Bundo and Pickles, to serve as First Cat:
Despite the demands of his life as a politician's pet, Oreo was truly a family feline and enjoyed spending time celebrating Valentine's Day with his bunny brother:
Oreo was considered to be quite the contemplative cat and often retired to the back porch of the family home for some peaceful reflection among nature.
His family memorialized his “little life,” on Twitter:
Oreo is survived by his parents, the vice president and Second Lady Karen Pence, as well as, his siblings — both human and four-legged — Audrey, Charlotte, Michael, Pickles, and Marlon.
It has not been revealed which of his nine lives this was.
