James T. Hodgkinson apparently carried a list of Republican congressmen in his pocket while he shot several people at a Congressional Baseball Game practice on Wednesday.
The list appeared to corroborate Hodgkinson's suspected political motive in attacking a Republican baseball practice. After being briefed on the shooting, federal officials told NBC News that Republican Congressmen Trent Franks (R-Ariz.), Jeff Duncan (R-S.C.), and Mo Brooks (R-Ala.) were on the list, as well.
It's unclear whether Rep. Steve Scalise (R-La.), who was hospitalized after Hodgkinson shot him, was on the list because officials refused to disclose two of the names. According to the hospital treating Scalise, he was in critical condition as of Friday and had undergone multiple surgeries.
Hodgkinson, a Bernie Sanders supporter and volunteer during his 2016 presidential campaign, asked Duncan on Wednesday whether Republicans or Democrats were playing baseball. Duncan recalled the eerie exchange in the ball field parking lot after the shooting occurred.
Hodgkinson's Facebook page reportedly revealed his support for Sanders, as well as his disapproval of President Donald Trump.
