We now have a name to put to the suspect in the van attack on worshippers at London, England's Finsbury Park Mosque. Sky News, citing sources, reports that the man is Darren Osborne, a 47-year-old man from Cardiff, Wales.
The attack occurred when worshippers were leaving the mosque at about midnight local time, as they had just finished their night time prayers as part of Ramadan. One person was killed and eight were injured in the attack. All nine victims are/were Muslims.
The Guardian reports that Jo Stevens, who represents Cardiff in Parliament, is pleading with her constituents to not just share information with the police, but also choose their social media comments wisely so as not to prejudice Osborne's trial.
“I am appealing to anyone who may have relevant information about the attack to let the police know immediately,” she said. “I am also appealing to everyone who uses social media, to please be aware that prejudicial tweets about the alleged attacker may constitute contempt of court, and could even lead to any prosecution or trial having to be abandoned.”
