Country music star Toby Keith has become a staple of Fourth of July celebrations. His hit songs, “Courtesy of the Red, White, and Blue (The Angry American),” “Made in America,” and “American Soldier,” are perfect for Independence Day and are more than enough to make anyone feel patriotic.
However, while Americans nationwide celebrated our independence, Keith's daughter Krystal celebrated being alive:
On Friday, she revealed on Instagram that she, her husband, and young daughter were all involved in a brutal car crash on the Fourth of July. The post included two photos of the car, which is completely destroyed:
According to her post, “A drunk driver almost took the lives of my entire family,” but fortunately they all survived and are in the process of healing.
Krystal didn't go into detail about the injuries her family sustained, although she did ask for everyone to keep praying for them, which signals they may have a long road ahead:
In her post, she reminded fans to “hug your babies and spouses tight” and ended with a plea for people to not drink and drive.
According to Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD), a person is injured in a drunk driving accident every two minutes, and two out of three people will be involved in a drunk driving crash during their lifetime.
As of Saturday morning, Keith has not commented on his daughter's Fourth of July nightmare.
