Sunday and Monday culminated in the largest NFL protests yet.
More than 200 players protested during the national anthem, and their demonstrations drew a negative reaction from many.
While the Pittsburgh Steelers and Denver Broncos announced plans to stand for the anthem, it's anyone's guess what other teams might do.
President Donald Trump made a suggestion for the NFL, via Twitter, on Saturday night.
Very important that NFL players STAND tomorrow, and always, for the playing of our National Anthem. Respect our Flag and our Country!
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) September 30, 2017
The president's message for unity and country didn't go over so well with some, though:
Very important that Donald Trump STOPS TWEETING AND RESIGNS tomorrow. Respect our flag and our country!

Respect is earned, Chief.

While there were criticisms of Trump's tweet, many were happy that he said it:
Yes sir mr. President! Agreed sir! as I stand here next to my family killed by terrorist, racism never crossed my mind one damn time. MAGA! pic.twitter.com/tHXwcmV70B

This isn't about right and left, it's about right and wrong. Once again, President Trump stands on the side of patriotism #MAGA

The liberal NFL has profited greatly from taxpayer subsidies, and public support. It is time they respect of those would been so good to them

Way to go! And if they kneel, to hell with them! No more kneeling from now on. BOYCOTT SOON!
— Local Enterpriser (@deltarover) September 30, 2017
There are 14 NFL games on Sunday. Time will tell if players who planned to take a knee before decided to instead heed the president's advice.
