President Donald Trump will welcome 18 NCAA championship teams to the White House Friday morning. The event is scheduled to begin at 11:30 a.m. ET.
The event will welcome teams from sports other than men's basketball and football.
Notably missing from the roster, however, is the women's basketball champions the South Carolina Gamecocks.
According to the Post and Courier, the team will be having practice Friday morning instead of meeting with the president. “As I've been saying since our practices for this season started, all of our focus is on the season ahead,” coach Dawn Staley said.
The relationship between President Trump and various sports teams has been somewhat complicated at times. Earlier in the year, Golden State Warriors's Stephen Curry claimed to have no interest in meeting with the president after winning the NBA championship and Trump promptly rescinded the invitation.
Most recently, Trump has made numerous — and divisive — comments on the issue of NFL players taking a knee during the national anthem.
