Ty Cobb, President Donald Trump's personal attorney, attempted to downplay former National Security Advisor Michael Flynn's connection to the president after Flynn pleaded guilty to lying to the FBI regarding communications with Russians.

“Nothing about the guilty plea or the charge implicates anyone other than Mr. Flynn,” Trump attorney Cobb said in a statement, stating Flynn's false statements to the FBI “mirror” false statements he made to the White House, which cost him his national security advisor position:

However, as Trump's lawyer looks to dampen the impact of Flynn's guilty plea, according to NBC News, individuals close the president view Friday's news as “very, very, very bad.”

According to reports, there is concern Flynn will “offer up information that could be harmful to the president.”

ABC News reported earlier Friday that Flynn is prepared to testify against President Trump, his family and White House officials — he's specifically ready to testify that Trump, as a candidate, directed him to make contact with the Russians.
