During her eight-hour talk-a-thon on the House floor Wednesday, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) gave a shoutout to parents of Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals recipients that left some people sputtering.
Pelosi spent hours reading stories about the people in the DACA program, 1.8 million of whom President Donald Trump has offered a pathway to citizenship.
The House minority leader’s speech was an attempt to pressure Congress to include an amnesty for all people who might come under DACA.
Pelosi thanked the parents for bringing their children to the country illegally:
“I say to their parents: Thank you for bringing these 'Dreamers' to America. We’re in your debt for the courage it took for you to take the risk, physically, politically, in every way, to do so.”
And people noticed:

Mark Pantano was apoplectic:
The Party of Lawlessness...

Twitter user Joie wondered if Pelosi forgot for whom she works:
Apparently Nancy forgot her oath to the American People.
She disgusts me.

After her marathon talk session, Pelosi went on Twitter to once again thank the parents of DACA recipients:
Just seeing all of these #GoNancyGo messages. Truly very moving. But let's not lose focus of who really matters here. Thank you to our #Dreamers. And thank you to your parents for allowing us all the pleasure of having you be a part of our American family every day. #DREAMActNow

It’s a rare moment for an elected official to applaud millions of people for breaking U.S. law.
