A college student may not graduate from Indiana University of Pennsylvania this year after being kicked out of class for debating his professor on the number of genders there are.

Fox News reports in Lake Ingle's class, Professor Alison Downie showed a 15-minute TED Talk by transgender ex-pastor Paula Stone Williams talking about “mansplaining,” “sexism from men,” and “male privilege.” When Downie specifically asked women in the class for their opinions, none answered.

Ingle then spoke up and said, according to biologists, there are only two genders. According to Ingle, a senior who needs to complete the class, Downie kicked him out of class and reported him to IUP's Academic Integrity Board (AIB).

In a letter dated March 2, IUP Provost Timothy Moerland said Ingle is charged with “disrespectful objection to the professor's class structure, refusal to stop talking out of turn, angry outburst in response to being required to listen to trans speaker discuss the reality of white privilege and sexism...”

“My professor is violating my First Amendment rights because of the fact that my views and ideology is different from hers,” Ingle told Fox News. “So she took it on herself to silence and embarrass me — bully me — for speaking up in class.”

An academic hearing is set for March 19. IJR reached out to Downie but did not receive a comment in time for publication.
