Former San Francisco 49ers safety Eric Reid is letting his thoughts known on why he thinks he has yet to be signed by an NFL team since becoming a free agent.
Reid, who is a close friend of fellow free agent Colin Kaepernick, was one of the leading players to start kneeling during the national anthem in protest. Much like Kaepernick, Reid has not been signed by a team and has hinted he has been lowballed in first few days of free agency.
On his social media, Reid said if you do not think his activism is the reason why then “your mindset is part of the problem”:
The former safety has admitted earlier his activism could impact his career.
“I wouldn't use the word concerned,” Reid told ESPN in December 2017. “I would say I understand that's a possibility. And I'm completely fine with it. The things that I've done, I stand by, and I've done that for my own personal beliefs. Like I said, I'm fine with whatever outcome happens because of that.”
