“Jimmy Kimmel Live!” host Jimmy Kimmel poked fun at first lady Melania Trump's alleged involvement in organizing the annual White House Easter Egg Roll.
On Monday, President Donald Trump told Easter Egg Roll attendees that his wife “worked so hard” on the event and thanked her for her help.
“Not a chance she did one thing to help set that up,” Kimmel joked. “The only thing she's been working on is an escape tunnel.”
During the event, a variety of big names in the Trump administration ventured to the reading nook to read aloud to children.
Melania selected “You” by Sandra Magsamen to read, and the late-night host singled out her Eastern European pronunciation of “this” and “that.”
Given that the words sounded like “dees” and “dat,” Kimmel reasoned that it meant “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” personality, Guillermo Rodriguez, who has a Spanish accent, could be the first lady as well.
He turned the conversation to Vice President Mike Pence's daughter, Charlotte's new children's book about their family rabbit. Kimmel noted that instead of reading Pence's book, the first lady went with “dees” and “dat.”
Kimmel hasn't shied away from criticizing the president and previously called Trump “obviously mentally ill” for rolling back regulations affecting mental health and firearms.
