Rapper Kanye West tweeted his support for conservative commentator Candace Owens' ability to think for herself.

West, who took a lengthy break from Twitter, has proved to be a social media force since his return and, on Saturday, tweeted, “I love the way Candace Owens thinks.”

He followed the tweet up with another that said “only free thinkers” and, on Sunday, added, “The thought police want to suppress freedom of thought.”

Owens tweeted that she was “freaking out” over West's tweet because she repeatedly credits his musical lyrics for inspiring her work.

“I am my own biggest fan, because you made it okay,” she added. “I need you to help wake up the black community.”

During an interview on Fox News' “Fox & Friends,” Owens, a supporter of President Donald Trump, explained that the left doesn't want black Americans to be “free thinkers.”

“I think that's what Kanye West and myself represents to the black community, and that makes them very nervous,” she added.

When the surprising Owens/West alliance continued on Twitter later in the day Sunday, it turned to the topic of slavery. However, instead of physical slavery, the two argued modern-day slavery is about controlling a mentality.

This isn't the first time West has broken with his industry's majority and reached out across the aisle. Before Trump's inauguration, West met with the future president at Trump Tower in New York City.

CNN reported that after the meeting, West tweeted that he and Trump discussed “multicultural issues.” He added that if people “truly want change,” it's important to have a “direct line of communication” with the president.
