On Tuesday, ABC's “Roseanne” actress Roseanne Barr took to Twitter with a joke about former President Barack Obama's adviser, Valerie Jarrett, saying that “muslim brotherhood & planet of the apes had a baby” and that it equaled “vj,” referencing Jarrett.

The actress received immediate backlash for the comment and deleted her tweet. Soon after, Barr apologized and announced she was leaving Twitter:

Now, ABC Entertainment has announced that it is canceling “Roseanne.” Network president Channing Dungey issued a short statement:

Roseanne's Twitter statement is abhorrent, repugnant and inconsistent with our values, and we have decided to cancel her show.

Sara Gilbert, who played Roseanne's daughter in the show, also spoke out against the comments:

This Little Boy Tried To Play It Cool. Then Trump Noticed. What Happened Next Was ADORABLE.
