After meeting with Kim Kardashian West, President Donald Trump commuted Alice Johnson's life sentence and her overjoyed family members let Trump know they are beyond grateful.
During a call with MSNBC on Wednesday, Tretessa, Johnson's daughter, said she found out about Trump commuting her mother's sentence on the television and her lawyer called shortly after she saw the news.
“I want to publicly thank President Trump for doing that, that’s awesome,” she said.
Her mother was sentenced to life in prison in 1996 after aiding in communications for a cocaine trafficking operation.

Tretessa elaborated on her gratitude in a post on Facebook:
“I’m so full of thankfulness and joy right now I can barely think straight. Love you all,” her post concluded.
Since being released from prison, Johnson has also expressed her gratitude for Trump.
"I want to say to President Trump, I am going to make you proud that you gave me this second chance in life,” Alice told CNN.
“And I will not disappoint the American public or the world that has so much faith in me,” she added. “All I can say is thank you, President Trump. And I love you, President Trump! Thank you.”
