When it comes to former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s campaigning “tanking,” 2020 Democratic presidential hopeful Elizabeth Warren is taking some of the credit.

During an MSNBC interview, Rachel Maddow mentioned that Warren had outlasted Bloomberg in the race to which Warren replied, “Oh yeah, was he still in that race?”

Bloomberg dropped out of the race after disappointing Super Tuesday results as IJR previously reported.

When asked if Warren took credit for “single-handedly tanking his candidacy,” she responded, “Sure. But the point is he’s not going to be the Democratic nominee and he shouldn’t be the Democratic nominee.”

During the Democratic debate in Las Vegas, Vegada, Warren launched attacks on Bloomberg for his comments on women. She explained, “I’d like to talk about who we are running against, a billionaire who calls women fat broads and horse-faced lesbians.”

She continued in her interview with Maddow to say that Bloomberg was the “riskiest candidate for Democrats.” Warren cited his past as the reason why he could never go up against President Donald Trump.

Explaining that he would not be an effective candidate she said, “From my perspective, the idea that a billionaire would just spend enough money to buy his way on the stage and then not be able to be an effective candidate against Donald Trump. That was not good for Democracy, the billionaire buying his way on and not good for Democrats, a guy who I think would’ve had the worst chance against Donald Trump.”

Watch the interview below

Three presidential hopefuls are left in the race after Warren’s departure including former Vice President Joe Biden, Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), and Rep. Tulsi Gabbard (R-Hawaii).

Warren initially declined to make an endorsement and still has yet to do so. Thus far, other former presidential hopefuls including former South Bend, Ind., Mayor Pete Buttigieg, Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-Mass.), and Bloomberg have endorsed Biden.
