WH Taunts Trudeau After Hockey Win

MILAN, ITALY - FEBRUARY 22: Players of Team United States celebrate a 2-1 victory against Canada in overtime for the gold medal during the Men's Gold Medal match between Canada and the United States on day 16 of the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympic games at Milano Santagiulia Ice Hockey Arena on February 22, 2026 in Milan, Italy. One could say former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau started it by claiming the Canadian team would defeat the U.S. in the Olympic hockey final in Milan.

But it was the White House who drove the point after the U.S. bested Canada in overtime, 2-1.

After the win, the White House took to X to share an image of a bald eagle smashing a Canada goose — face-first — into the ice.

The White House post reposted Trudeau’s post a year when he wrote, “You can’t take our country — and you can’t take our game.”

In his post, Trudeau was celebrating Canada’s defeat over Team USA in the 4 Nations Face-Off hockey championship.

Should the White House have taunted Trudeau after the hockey win?

The line, “You can’t take our country,” was a jab at President Donald Trump, who allegedly wanted to annex Canada and make it the 51st state.

After Sunday’s win at the Winter Olympics, Trump congratulated the American team, saying, “Congratulations to our great U.S.A. Ice Hockey team. THEY WON THE GOLD. WOW! President DONALD J. TRUMP.”

Sunday’s win was the first time in 46 years a U.S. men’s Olympic hockey team won gold.

The last time — on the exact day — was in 1980 when a team comprised of college students defeated the heavily-favored Soviet Union in what I’d known as the “Miracle on Ice.”

The women’s U.S. hockey team also took home the gold by defeating Canada.
