Republican Kentucky Rep. Thomas Massie claimed Wednesday that the Israel lobby was spending heavily to defeat him in a high-profile primary against a President Donald Trump-backed opponent.

Massie alleged on “The Tucker Carlson Show” that his primary race against former Navy SEAL Ed Gallrein was so close because Israeli lobbying groups have funded his opponent. The congressman alleged the lobbying groups were fighting so hard to defeat him because he has voted against more war and foreign aid.

“[The money] didn’t come from regular people. It’s come from billionaires and 95% of it, at least 95% of it, has come from the Israeli lobby,” Massie said. “So, I’ll give you their proxies. The RJC, which is the Republican Jewish Coalition, the American Israel Public Affairs Committee, Miriam Adler, Paul Singer and John Paulson went together, they funded a PAC called MAGA Kentucky, which is neither MAGA or Kentucky.”

Massie accused another lobbying group, Christians United for Israel, of co-opting Christians into supporting AIPAC’s position of more war and foreign aid.

“The real reason that this race is a serious race and I may lose is because a foreign lobby has fully funded, to the extent that they’ve never done in any Republican race ever before, my opponent,” Massie continued.

Massie said that he is the “least xenophobic” congressman, but has always refused to vote in favor of foreign aid to any country. He further alleged that every member of Congress has an AIPAC person who influences how they vote, and his criticism of these members caused strong opposition against him.

Massie alleged that AIPAC is funneling money through a vendor called Democracy Engine, which was started by one of the founders of ActBlue.

Trump endorsed Gallerin in the race as retaliation against Massie for pushing to release the files surrounding sex offender Jeffrey Epstein and for opposing the big, beautiful bill in 2025. Massie won his 2024 primary race with 75.9% of the vote.
