An alleged terror operative tied to Iran-backed groups reportedly plotted to assassinate Ivanka Trump in retaliation for the U.S. killing of Iranian military commander Qasem Soleimani.
Mohammad Baqer Saad Dawood Al-Saadi, a 32-year-old Iraqi national recently arrested in Turkey, allegedly vowed to kill the president’s daughter and gathered information about her Florida home, according to sources cited by the New York Post.
“After Qasem was killed, he [Al-Saadi] went around telling people ‘we need to kill Ivanka to burn down the house of Trump the way he burned down our house,’” former Iraqi embassy official Entifadh Qanbar told the outlet.
Qanbar claimed Al-Saadi possessed a blueprint of Ivanka Trump’s home. A second source reportedly confirmed the alleged plot.
Authorities say Al-Saadi was extradited to the United States after his May 15 arrest and is accused of orchestrating attacks on American and Jewish targets across Europe and North America.
Federal prosecutors linked him to the firebombing of a bank in Amsterdam, a shooting at the U.S. consulate in Toronto, and attacks targeting Jewish victims and synagogues.
Investigators also pointed to threatening social media posts allegedly made by Al-Saadi, including one showing a map of the Florida community where Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner live.
One message warned Americans that “neither your palaces nor the Secret Service will protect you.”
Officials say Al-Saadi had connections to both Kata’ib Hizballah and Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.
Court documents also describe posts praising Soleimani and promising revenge against the United States following the Iranian commander’s death in a 2020 U.S. drone strike ordered by President Donald Trump.
Authorities also allege the suspect used international travel and online communications to coordinate with extremist networks while moving between multiple countries over the last several years.
Authorities say the suspect is currently being held in solitary confinement in Brooklyn.
