Actress Amanda Seyfried is not backing down from calling Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk after his Assassination.
Seyfried said Kirk was āhatefulā on Instagram and shared a post that said, āYou canāt invite violence to the dinner table and be shocked when it starts eating,ā per Fox News.
In an interview with āWho What Wearā published Wednesday, Seyfried talked about the backlash she received after commenting about Kirk ā and how she wonāt apologize.
āIām not fāing apologizing for that,ā Seyfried said. āI mean, for fāās sake, I commented on one thing. I said something that was based on actual reality and actual footage and actual quotes. What I said was pretty damn factual, and Iām free to have an opinion, of course.ā
āThank God for Instagram. I was able to give some clarity, and it was about getting my voice back because I felt like it had been stolen and recontextualized ā which is what people do, of course,ā she continued.
She also said she has to remember to ākeep head onā regarding Politics.
āItās always hard to see people who are tricky and harmful have success ā like our gorgeous president, the best possible example of that,ā Seyfried said. āItās so weird to sit in a civilized restaurant. People are serving us food. You canāt unpack it too much, or else youāll go fāing insane. Like, how is the world still spinning?ā
Turning Point USA spokesperson Andrew Kolvet told Fox News Digital, that Seyfried is can say what she wants, but ādeserved whatever backlash she gets.ā
āAmanda Seyfried obviously knows nothing about who Charlie Kirk actually was. Sheās a victim of her own algorithm and echo chamber. But if your reaction to an innocent husband and father being assassinated in cold blood is to pile on and call him āhatefulā instead of offering condolences, or just remaining silent ā I know wild concept ā then you are the hateful one,ā Kolvert said.
After the backlash, Seyfried wrote in an Instagram post, āWeāre forgetting the nuance of humanity. I can get angry about misogyny and racist rhetoric and ALSO very much agree that Charlie Kirkās murder was absolutely disturbing and deplorable in every way imaginable.ā
āNo one should have to experience this level of violence,ā she wrote. āThis country is grieving too many senseless and violent deaths and shootings. Can we agree on that at least?ā
In her caption, she added, āI donāt want to add fuel to a fire. I just want to be able to give clarity to something so irresponsibly (but understandably) taken out of context. Spirited discourse- isnāt that what we should be having?ā
