In August, “Duck Dynasty’s” Sadie Robertson revealed to Entertainment Tonight that she was following in her father, Willie Robertson’s, footsteps when it came to who she’s endorsing politically.
Explaining that after having done research on her own, she had come to the conclusion that Donald Trump best aligned with her beliefs. Sadie then, officially and publicly, announced that she’s “on the Trump Train”:
The hot mic “Entertainment Tonight” footage from 2005 caught the Republican presidential nominee making lewd and wildly inappropriate comments about women, including an account of making an advance on a married woman and insinuations of sexual assault.
Some of the sound bites included:
“You know I’m automatically attracted to beautiful — I just start kissing them. It’s like a magnet. Just kiss. I don’t even wait….
And when you’re a star, they let you do it…
Grab them by the p***y. You can do anything.”
While Trump has since apologized for his actions, he simultaneously defended himself by calling his words “locker room talk.”
As a woman and an active role model for young teens, Sadie Robertson wasn’t afraid to make herself clear about if her feelings towards Trump had cooled or not.
When asked if she still supported Trump, she responded with a clear answer.
She tells AL.com:
“That’s a good question. I would say yes, I would be voting for Trump. It doesn’t mean that I agree with everything he says or that he’s a moral person, but in the end it comes down to two people. For me and my family, we agree with what Trump wants to do with America.”
While Sadie may feel that Trump’s actions are a separate matter from his ability to lead, recent polling suggests many do not feel the same way. According to the Wall Street Journal, Hillary Clinton is now leading Trump by 11 points.
