All the Times Donald Trump Talked About Women’s Periods

Donald Trump has been known to make some pretty controversial comments in his day, some of which have been made during his 2016 presidential campaign.

Take his feud with Fox News anchor Megyn Kelly, for example. Trump relentlessly bashed Kelly for months on end, calling her a “lightweight reporter” and insinuating she’s a “bimbo” — with Fox even calling Trump’s obsession with Kelly “sick.”

Now, former Apprentice employees are speaking out to Slate about their experience with the billionaire businessman, many of whom say he’s obsessed with “menstruation.”

A former mid-level producer recalls a time when Trump knew his mic was still on and spoke candidly about contestants in the control room:

“We shot in Trump Tower, the control room was on the seventh floor, and he walked in one day and was talking about a contestant, saying, ‘Her breasts were so much bigger at the casting. Maybe she had her period then.’ He knows he’s mic’d and that 30 people are hearing this, but he didn’t care. That’s kind of him.”

Entertainment Weekly reported another instance on Celebrity Apprentice when Trump and Vivica Fox discussed gold medal gymnast Shawn Johnson’s menstrual cycle after she expressed having “major cramping” during filming.

Trump repeated to the viewers that she “had a monthly woman’s problem” and asked Shawn to further clarify the matter on national television.

In December 2015, he called out Hillary Clinton for taking a bathroom break during the debate, calling it “too disgusting” to talk about. We’re not quite sure if his comments were specifically about her “time of the month,” but they very well could be:

“I haven’t started with Hillary yet. What happened to her? I’m watching the debate and she disappeared. Where did she go?! Where did she go?!

I thought she quit! I thought she gave up! Where did she go? Where did Hillary go?

They had to start the debate without her. Phase two. I know where she went. It’s disgusting. I don’t want to talk about it. No, it’s too disgusting. Don’t say it. It’s disgusting.”

And let’s not forget about the infamous moment when Trump attacked Megyn Kelly, telling CNN’s Don Lemon in August 2015:

“You could see there was blood coming out of her eyes. Blood coming out of her wherever.”

His comment quickly incited outrage among women across the world, some of whom responded with fiery “period tweets” and one artist making a bold statement by drawing Trump with her own period blood.

Trump denied his comments were about Kelly’s monthly cycle, insisting the blood he referred to was “coming out of her nose.”
