Amy Schumer Showed Up at Kavanaugh Protest and Said ‘Yes’ When Asked if She Wanted to Be Arrested

Thousands of anti-Kavanaugh protestors took to Washington D.C. in opposition to the Supreme Court nominee and hundreds were arrested — including comedian Amy Schumer.

The FBI report on Judge Brett Kavanaugh was sent from the White House to the Senate on Thursday and according to Senate Republicans, it showed no corroborating evidence on the sexual assault accusations made against Kavanaugh.

Protestors swarmed the Hart Senate Office Building as the Senate moves toward a procedural vote on Friday, followed by a final vote on Saturday to confirm Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court.

One of those protestors included Schumer and she practically volunteered herself for arrest.

According to Fox News, Schumer is the first-cousin-once-removed of Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.).

A video on Twitter showed the comedian being asked by a Capitol police officer if she wanted to be arrested.

Schumer quickly responded, “Yes.”

Schumer was reportedly among the hundreds that were arrested on Thursday.

Prior to the police confrontation, Schumer gave a speech saying, “A vote for Kavanaugh is a vote saying women don’t matter.”

One person in the background is heard saying, “That’s not true.”

As of now, the Senate Republicans hold the vote with a 51-49 margin — if the vote comes to a 50-50 tie, then Vice President Mike Pence will make the deciding vote.

Responses

  1. She’s not nearly as funny as her Dad, and he’s not even trying!

  2. Thank you Smy Schumer for standing up for women. When does your next movie come out. I would like to support you. Thanks for your bravery and for using your voice to add “Umph” to my life. Thanks for Reminding America that I matter.

  3. Oh boy! A publicity hound just like the other Schemers.

  4. This is not how real women protest for rights. There was no evidence found against the judge. You want truth or tv time

  5. She has lost any chance of respect by her former actions so she is showing that she is a good commie to the rest of the America haters .

  6. It takes courage to stand up for your convictions especially against the conventional Norm regardless of who you are or what you do in life! Her willingness to be arrested was just a tribute to her conviction that that threat wouldn’t change her belief or make her back down!

    1. I hope they tribute the hell out of her and throw away the key…
      Hitler had convictions too!

  7. Amy accomplishes two things: she gets PR after her last few movies have *ahem* flopped and she enhances her bobblehead cred. She’s probably counting on cousin Chuck U. Shmuck to bail her out.

  8. No, it is not “pretty bad”. It shows strength of her convictions. That is what public protest and civil disobedience is all about.

  9. its pretty bad when you have to ask to be arrested. What a martyr!!!
