During an appearance on “America’s Newsroom,” Rep. Andy Biggs (R-Ariz.) called out Democrats for the broad resolution that condemned bigotry against minorities.
Biggs was one of 23 Republicans who voted against the resolution, claiming that it was too broad instead of dealing directly with Rep. Ilhan Omar’s (D-Minn.) comments that many found to be anti-Semitic.
“We need to call out a problem that we have and deal with it, and they weren’t dealing with the problem,” Biggs said.
He also claimed that it seemed like many in the Democratic Party were being held back by the more left-leaning members of Congress who were just elected.
“It shows that there is a conflict at the top of this Democrat Party that is being actually held hostage — in many respects, in my opinion — by the young people that just came in,” Biggs said.
Biggs called the failure of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) to call out the controversy directly “tragic.”

Today, I joined @AmericaNewsroom to talk about Rep Omar's continued anti-Semitic remarks and @POTUS @realDonaldTrump's proposed budget for border security. “Congresswoman Omar has engaged in a consistent pattern of anti-Semitic remarks. Democrats forced a conditional apology from her earlier this year, only to find out that she was not sincere at all. Meanwhile, Speaker Pelosi empowers her voice in the Democratic Conference — even appearing with her on the cover of Rolling Stone magazine.”
He also called for Omar’s removal from her committee assignments, saying that she was a repeat offender of anti-Semitism. However, he said that he did not believe this would happen based on the resolution’s passing.
“Congresswoman Omar should be removed from the Foreign Affairs Committee for her unrepentant anti-Semitism,” Biggs said. “Unfortunately, Democrats have no interest in backing up their soft rebukes with real consequences. In fact, they can’t even draft a resolution to condemn her anti-Semitic remarks. Americans should be disgusted by this charade.”
