In trying to curb the immigration situation at the U.S.-Mexico border, Democratic California Gov. Gavin Newsom is pledging to push investment in El Salvador. However, an angel mom is tearing into the governor for making “absolutely the wrong move.”
Appearing on “Fox & Friends” on Tuesday, Agnes Gibboney — whose son was shot and killed by an illegal immigrant in California in 2002 — tore into Newsom for his new promise and forgetting about the people of California.
“Absolutely the wrong move. California has a lot of issues,” Gibboney said. “[…] He ought to be focusing on what is happening in our state, not another country. It’s not his job to be doing that.”
“I have no respect for the California government because they let me down,” Gibboney, a Hungarian immigrant, continued.
“They protect criminal illegal aliens — they’re not protecting my family. Where was my son’s sanctuary? Where is my sanctuary? And to let everyone know, the individual that murdered my son will be released from prison in the state of California next year in February. This is an outrage. We need to protect our own, not criminals and not illegals that are costing taxpayers billions and billions of dollars a year.”

Following Newsom’s recent trip to the Central America country, the governor vowed to help stabilize El Salvador in an effort to lessen the number of immigrants leaving their country to head to U.S. soil.
“Helping stabilize El Salvador directly helps California by mitigating the border challenges, by mitigating migration, by tempering the rhetoric with the Trump administration,” Newsom said, according to the Los Angeles Times. “It’s about finding a different angle in the debate.
“I think the economic opportunities, the investment opportunities are real, and getting some California industry, business interests to take a look at El Salvador is something that we’re clearly going to pursue,” he added.
Gibboney isn’t the only angel parent who has blasted Newsom’s moves on immigration.
As IJR Red reported, angel dad Don Rosenberg told “Fox & Friends” on April 9 that Newsom’s visit to El Salvador is a “political stunt” and called out the governor for not helping Americans.
“Newsom, he’s ignoring his own state, worrying about everything else,” Rosenberg said. “[…] Almost every legislator in California has put illegal aliens ahead of American citizens. And the results are a lot of crime and a lot of death.”
