Ann Coulter Slams Trump on Immigration: ‘Who Doesn’t Want Trump Impeached?’

Conservative commentator Ann Coulter reacted to President Donald Trump’s recent stance on immigration policy Thursday by suggesting she wanted Congress to impeach him:

Coulter was responding to one of Trump’s tweets in which he defended immigrants who came to the U.S. as undocumented children.

Among Coulter’s many bestselling books, “In Trump We Trust” was a full-throated endorsement of Trump for president, a position she thought he would use to tamp down on illegal immigration and build a border wall.

Without the wall, Coulter said she preferred Vice President Mike Pence take over the Oval Office:

Those comments come just hours before The Washington Post reported President Trump struck a deal with Congressional Democrats to shield those undocumented immigrants from deportation but not build a physical wall along the southern border.

That deal, Coulter suggested, boded poorly for Trump’s political future:

Recently, Coulter has tweeted her displeasure regarding Trump’s policy stances. On Wednesday, she suggested Trump feigned interest in immigration enforcement in order to appease crowds:

Coulter’s dismay was likely indicative of growing discomfort among Trump’s base with his recent policy decisions. The White House’s former chief strategist, Steve Bannon, often seen as representative of the most ardent Trump supporters, said he disapproved of Trump’s decision to end the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program in six months, giving Congress an opportunity to craft a legislative solution.

It appeared as though Trump’s decision to end DACA was more of a legal formality, designed to reverse former President Barack Obama’s unilateral enactment of the program, than an effort to block young immigrants from a path to citizenship.

Just after Trump ended DACA, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) said Trump committed to signing the DREAM Act, legislation that would effectively grant amnesty to individuals protected by DACA.
