Despite losing a 30 million battle, Planned Parenthood hasn’t given up fighting the war to defeat Donald Trump and Mike Pence.
With their pro-choice rhetoric, it’s no surprise that Planned Parenthood hasn’t cozied up to the idea of a Trump presidency, but how far they’re willing to take “the ends justifies the means” is a bit more shocking.
Protests, some violent, have erupted across the country, gathering crowds of nearly 11,000 people.
However, an event page for an anti-Trump Rally/Protest in Philadelphia shows a reach of only 400 people.
Anti-Trump rallies have seen overwhelming numbers of protesters but with such a low reach on Facebook, it leaves an important question open-ended. Who is behind organizing these large crowds of people?
A Planned Parenthood affiliate placed ads on Craigslist to recruit people to aid their field efforts during the campaign. According to Fox News, most of these ads are still active even though the election is over.
Independent Journal Review attempted to reach Campbell at the number listed on the ad, but it seems the number is no longer in service.
Still, the employer listed at the bottom of the ad, Community Outreach Group LLC, raises a red flag. The organization is described on its website as:
“Community Outreach Group, LLC is part of Planned Parenthood, but a separate organization that is available to act as a vendor of large-scale advocacy and electoral programs for affiliates, local c4 organizations, Planned Parenthood Federation of America, the Action Fund and Planned Parenthood Votes for contracted field programs.
Offering a wide range of services, including voter registration and street canvassing, they also cite “protesting” as one of their organization services.
While Planned Parenthood hasn’t necessarily been directly tied to any ads recruiting protesters, the idea that they’re driving the organization of the protests isn’t too far a stretch to imagine.
Supporters of Planned Parenthood have sought to have their voices heard in other areas, as well.
After artist Bethany Cosentino posted an Instagram that went viral, Planned Parenthood received 20,000 donations– made in the name of Vice President-elect, Mike Pence.
In light of recent events and donations, Planned Parenthood expressed gratitude, saying:
“We are so grateful to this community across the country, and we will never stop fighting for them.”
Planned Parenthood has not confirmed or denied the accusations that they are fueling the protests. Independent Journal Review reached out to them but didn’t hear back before publication.
While the motivation behind a lot of these protesters is still up for debate, if history is any indication of the present, it’s very possible at least some have a financial stake in this game.
