A tense off-camera exchange between Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and a Fox News producer erupted into public view this week, igniting a fresh war of words between the New York Democrat and conservative media host Jesse Watters.
According to the New York Post, the confrontation unfolded when Ocasio-Cortez was approached about appearing on âJesse Watters Primetime.â
Instead of entertaining the invitation, the congresswoman launched into a furious denunciation of the showâs host, accusing Watters of sexual harassment and exploitative rhetoric.
âHe has sexualized and harassed me on his show,â Ocasio-Cortez told producer Johnny Belisario. âHe has sexually harassed me on his show. He has engaged in horrific, sexually exploitative rhetoric.â
Belisario pushed back, telling her, âThatâs not true, Congresswoman.â
Ocasio-Cortez was unmoved.
âIt is true,â she shot back, âbecause he accused me sleeping â of wanting to quote, unquote, sleep with Stephen Miller. So why donât you tell me what you think is acceptable to tell a woman? Thank you.â
The exchange was captured on video by Pablo ManrĂquez of Migrant Insider and later circulated widely online by MeidasTouch contributor Acyn Torabi, quickly gaining traction across social media.
The Bronx and Queens lawmaker was referencing comments Watters made last October on Fox Newsâ âThe Five,â following her criticism of White House deputy chief of staff for policy Stephen Miller. During that segment, Watters speculated about Ocasio-Cortezâs motivations.
âI think AOC wants to sleep with Miller,â Watters said at the time. âIâm sorry you canât have him. Miller is the best. I know him well socially. The man is not overcompensating.â
Watters went on to praise Miller as âa policy savant,â adding that he âbattles CNN with grace and with class and provides wise counsel to the President of the United States.â He also referred to Miller as a âsexual matador.â
Ocasio-Cortez has long been a vocal critic of Miller, particularly over his hardline views on immigration. Last year, she mocked his appearance by suggesting he was 4â10â before later walking back those remarks.
âI donât believe in body-shaming,â she said at the time. âI want to express my love for the short king community,â later clarifying, âI am talking about how big or small someone is on the inside.â
After finishing her heated exchange with Belisario, Ocasio-Cortez stormed off. She later doubled down on her criticism in a post on X.
âYou can either be a pervert or ask me to be on your little show,â she wrote. âNot both. Good luck!â
