Group Invites AOC and Other Democrats to Visit Nazi Concentration Camps for ‘A Teachable Moment’

A group against anti-Semitism is inviting Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) to tour Nazi concentration camps.

The invitation, tweeted by Americans Against Antisemitism founder Dov Hikind, was in response to Ocasio-Cortez’s recent comments comparing immigration detention facilities to Nazi camps.

“In light of the recent controversy surrounding Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s referencing of ‘concentration camps’ from WWII to make a point about migrant detention facilities in America, it has become clear that the congresswoman is quite unfamiliar with the history of concentration camps and the Holocaust.”

He offered the trip as a way for Democratic lawmakers to understand why their comments were controversial.

“Therefore, Americans Against Antisemitism feels it necessary (a teachable moment) to offer Ocasio-Cortez, as well as her colleagues who have likewise exhibited a great lacking of education in this domain like Rep. Ilhan Omar and Rep. Rashida Tlaib,” said the statement posted by Hikind.

While the statement said that the trip’s goal was to educate the lawmakers, the organization knew they were not likely to change the politicians’ beliefs.

“Our offer stands open and ready,” the statement read. “We do not expect that these members will change their opinions after the visit, but at the very least, they could claim to have done their homework before opening their mouths on a subject whose magnitude far exceeds their current aptitude.”

However, the group claimed that continuing to distort the information would do more harm than good.

“It is our sincere hope that they don’t allow their Holocaust miseducation to continue distorting the picture of both the past and the present as that always leads to a darker future,” said Hikind.

Watch:

As IJR Red reported, Ocasio-Cortez claimed that America “is running concentration camps on our southern border, and that is exactly what they are,” a comment that quickly received backlash. It is uncertain if the lawmakers will accept Hikind’s invitation.

I believe the best way to keep her from influencing impressionable young minds is to vote her out of office. The people who voted for her , hopefully would have realized by now what a dreadful mistake they have made. She is unworthy of the office she represents ,evidently uneducated as she opens her mouth on topics, her equally uneducated liberal staff haven’t fully investigated and the worst part unwilling to be educated on the very same topics. Give her less air time and literary space. She is offensive in every other way

I don’t think she has the mental capability to learn a lesson if taught to her. I really also think she doesn’t care. Her language won’t change because to her they are just words to paint a picture of her opposition. In this case Trump and the U.S. Further, I doubt she will take you up on the offer to really learn a lesson by going to a camp. She is an uneducated U.S. liberal without a firm background in history or anything else.

She should apologize and the media needs to put her in a muzzle

As a student of an elementary school, middle school and high school that taught history the correct way concerning the World War II concentration and death camps, watching actual stories from the victims of the concentration camps, was so very fortunate to see in person victims and their stories and memories, it made me cry! We here in America truly have no camps like them, I know that for a fact!!!

I don’t think we want to put any ideas into occasional-cortex’s head.

AOC must have less than a 2nd grade education, never watched TV and has no comprehension of the English language to think that the WW2 holocaust camps were anything like the detaining facilities at the border. If she is so concerned about the welfare of the people attempting to illegally enter the country, perhaps she should condemn the people that urged them to come with the excuse of asylum. Get Obama, Schumer and Pelosi to fund programs to help these people to get back home. They invited them under false pretenses to come here to gain votes for the Democrats.

The US internment camps are concentration camps. Get over it. Neither Jews nor the Holocaust “owns” that term. It was invented, and implemented, many years before the Germans did it. They still exist in many places, including the US and Israel.

Some concentration camps are worse than others, especially when the power running them happens to be getting conquered (like Germany).

My 16 year old Grandson just returned from a trip to Washington DC, as part of a group representing our local FFA Organization. One of the things that they got to do while they were there was to visit the Holocaust Museum. The only pictures he took were of the thousands of shoes that are displayed in huge, clear containers. At 16, he knew what a horrible story had to lay behind those boxes of shoes! Yet we have a grown woman, who is an elected official, saying the border detainment centers are as bad as Germany, or worse? Maybe… Read more »
