AOC Mocks Reporter for Wearing Protective Vest at Border — Gets Dragged for Making Fun of the Crisis

Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) took to social media on Thursday to criticize a reporter for wearing a protective vest and faced backlash from those saying she was mocking the border security crisis.

Ocasio-Cortez has criticized immigration enforcement as “dangerous.” She posted on Twitter Thursday night, going after a Fox News reporter who was wearing a protective vest while filming.

“Does ‘live from the border’ mean Party City?” Ocasio-Cortez tweeted. “Fox is really out here doing the most on a budget to make the border look more dangerous than it is.”

Many conservative Twitter accounts pushed back against her comments, setting the record straight on the reality of what is happening at the U.S.-Mexico border.

Read reactions to the mocking tweet below:

“They caught 8 people at the border during their segment but ok,” tweeted Caleb Hull.

One account pointed out that she was going after an African American journalist.

“Why are you mocking a young African American reporter doing his job?” wrote the user.

The reporter also responded to her tweet, saying that Border Patrol required him to wear a protective vest due to the area he was filming in.

“Congresswoman, I’m sure the Border Patrol Laredo Sector, would be happy to give you a full briefing on the crisis here on the border,” said Lawrence Jones. “How about you join me & see for yourself. We just capture 8 illegals 3 minutes ago. Thankfully they weren’t armed like the others 2 days ago.”

He also further commented on Fox News about the situation, saying that the border security situation is more dangerous than some would like to believe.

Watch:

He said that Border Patrol “told me to put it on to keep us safe here. Just two months ago, there was a shooting. … We control this side of the border, but the cartel controls the other side of the border. There’s been gunfights.”

As IJR reported, multiple officials have called the situation a crisis and have called for action. DHS has sent military reinforcements to help border security agents and President Trump has allocated funds to build a stronger border.

Mr. Jones poses a serious question. If the border is so safe and there’s no crisis, why isn’t she there to prove it? I suppose making videos while snacking and assembling furniture is more important.

Hint to Socialist Barbie, it’s unbecoming to talk while chewing.

She’s always good for comic relief, especially when she’s sooooo serious. I suspect she has no sense of humor.

Lawrence said that the border security situation is more dangerous than some would like to believe.

He got confused where he was and thought that he was on the West Bank border where Israeli solders kill unarmed people, such as people in wheelchairs, children and emergency response workers.

Got room in there for your snacks and powerbars?

He’s not nearly as confused as you. Like the Israeli’s are the ONLY ones killing innocent people. The Israeli’s are PROTECTING THEMSELVES. A FACT you don’t seem to comprehend, hence your confusion. The Israeli’s are under CONSTANT attack, another FACT you can’t comprehend.

So the Israelis need to use snipers to protect themselves from children, handicapped people, observers, journalists, white-coated doctors and paramedics?

Last year alone saw over 6,200 victims of being shot in the legs overwhelming their health cafe system in Gaza. Nearly 200 were killed. Many of them were posing no threat at all to Israeli soldiers. This breaks international law.

I am not the one confused.

The US is pretty good at killing innocent civilians too.

And we are outstanding at killing ourselves.

As per Ban, the US ignores human rights violations & war crimes based on an assertion that Israel is “under CONSTANT attack.” What is it that you perceive is the impetus for the attacks? We now also overlook human rts violations in Saudi Arabia, Philippines, Egypt, N Korea, Russia & Turkey. Are they also “under CONSTANT attack”?

Actually, should we not all be wearing bulletproof vests? The border is still America. America where R’s are opposed to restricting gun rights to convicted domestic abusers and the terrorist watch list.

Since YOU are so into comment votes, just what does those minus votes for your comment mean to you?

At 1 point I had -1,558 points. Where would you get the idea I concern myself with the # of down votes? My interest is in identifying the voters is to inquire what the vote MEANT to THEM. i.e., Do you support convicted domestic abuser & terror watch list having the right to buy a gun? 3 of the policemen killed in the line of duty in south of Pittsburgh area were by 2 domestic abusers that shoot their estranged wives before shooting the police responding to reports of gunfire.

From your comment below, I see that you do. Interesting notion that future generations will find difficult to comprehend.

” Where would you get the idea I concern myself with the # of down votes?” From all of YOUR comments that begin with ” I didn’t give you the down vote, but . . . ” THAT’S WHERE.

As a rule, I don’t vote and IJR will not provide posters the ability to see WHO votes. With you, I am afforded the opportunity to ask for an explanation of your response. No opportunity to explore the reasoning of an up or down vote if you have no idea who they are. And in your case, you are generally straight forward if you are basing your thoughts on facts, alternate facts, or your gut.

i’m SURE to you that it means there are 15 more people out there stupider than you since you think are so much smarter than the people here who disagree with you and aren’t afraid to tell us all.

You still need to work on that inferiority complex. You do not need to be a rocket science to recognize when you are being played for a fool. That is why it was referred to as COMMON SENSE. Years ago, it was common. I am looking for a POTUS candidate that will MAKE AMERICA SANE AGAIN. I would like to see common sense be common. It will take more than changing the occupant of the WH.

banstan

“You still need to work on that inferiority complex.” THAT from the person who SWEARS SHE has NEVER insulted ANYONE here!

Phyllis Softa

That is NOT an insult. That was an observation of your repeated assertions that I disagree with you because of your perceived perception that I believe I am smarter than you.

You are NOTHING but a TROLL, philly.

I do enjoy exchanging thoughts with you, BUT there is not an IJR requirement to read or respond to my comments.

It would also take a complete overhaul of the legislature ( both chambers ) as well.

Phyllis Softa

You & I do not see that occurring in the current environment. Notice that I got 22 negative votes for disagreeing with the 157 R’s & 1 D that voted against the Protection of Domestic Violence bill because it prevented CONVICTED domestic abusers from gun ownership. Making America SANE again is our only way out if the insanity.

I do NOT feel the NEED to wear a bulletproof vest REGARDLESS of the really WEAK REASONS you cite here.

If you listen to the families of White victims of gun violence, zero have claimed that they knew gun violence would strike THEIR family. “Denial is the worst kind of lie, as it is the lie you tell yourself.” Michelle Homme. Sorry, I could not think of one from Rod Sterling.

“Denial is the worst kind of lie, as it is the lie you tell yourself.” LEARN from your OWN words, philly.

LOL. The words are a quote of Michelle Homme, to whom I gave credit.

STILL do not feel the need to go get me a bullet-proof vest. Keep tryin, even though I know that if you do, you will make ZERO sense.

I find it reassuring that you are not feeling the need to don a bullet-proof vest. It tells me you are not planning the next mass shooting in America.
