An Arizona official is laying into claims made by former President Donald Trump.
The topic in hand is an audit of theĀ Maricopa County, Arizona, ballots, and Trump hasĀ falsely accusedĀ the county of deletingĀ an elections database.
āWow. This is unhinged,ā Maricopa County Recorder Stephen Richer responded to Trumpās recent statement over the weekend.
He continued, āIām literally looking at our voter registration database on my other screen. Right now. We canāt indulge these insane lies any longer. As a party. As a state. As a country. This is as readily falsifiable as 2+2=5. If we donāt call this out.ā
Then directing a tweet to Arizona House Rep. Leo Biasiucci (R), Richer wrote, āHereās a great example of a plain-as-day lie that will lead our Arizona residents to think the Maricopa County database has been entirely deleted. Help me call out this lie.ā
Richer, a Republican, leads the Maricopa County elections department, which is the target of an audit by Republicans.
Richer was responding to Trumpās claim, āThe entire Database of Maricopa County in Arizona has been DELETED! This is illegal and the Arizona State Senate, who is leading the Forensic Audit, is up in arms. Additionally, seals were broken on the boxes that hold the votes, ballots are missing, and worse.ā
Trump also claimed, āThe DELETION of an entire Database and critical Election files of Maricopa County is unprecedented. Many other States to follow.ā
The account for Maricopa County on Twitter wrote on Friday that āthe 2020 elections were run integrity, the results certified by the county state were accurate, the 2 independent audits conducted by the County are the true final word on the subject.ā
The Twitter account for the county also noted that there will be a public meeting on Monday where the āboard will lay out facts.ā
In the meeting, Maricopa County officials willĀ respond āto questions raised by Arizona Senate-hired private contractors auditing the countyās general election,ā according to The Arizona Republic.
