Oh, you thought we were done with the gaslighting? Buckle up â because here comes Antony Blinken, the man who once thought a strongly worded tweet could stop a war, now trying to slap a âMade by Bidenâ sticker on a Middle East peace deal that was so clearly â painfully clearly â a product of President Trumpâs strategy.
Yes, seriously.
Over the weekend, the foreign policy crowd, which has spent the last several years running around with its hair on fire, finally watched a ceasefire plan come together in Gaza. A plan that actually looks⌠viable. Hostages are being released. Israel doesnât have to pack up and leave. Hamas is facing disarmament. And for once, the word âbuffer zoneâ means something more than a vague hope and a UN press conference.
But now Blinken is out here â with a straight face â saying this was Bidenâs plan all along.
Not kidding. And no, thereâs not a punchline. Because the only joke is the idea that this administration, the one that stood by as Iran pumped fuel (and weapons) into the regionâs fires, somehow masterminded a solution it couldnât even imagine eight months ago.
Letâs rewind for a second.
Remember the last âceasefireâ Biden and Blinken threw together? The one that left hostages in Hamas hands, required Israel to âshow restraintâ while terrorists launched rockets, and asked the region to just trust that the people funding Hezbollah would play nice? That one? That was their plan.
It cratered faster than a State Department press release.
Fast forward to now: Trumpâs diplomatic circle â yes, the one the media treated like a punchline â quietly worked channels, applied pressure where it mattered (hello, Iran), and brought the Arab states to the table. The deal wasnât built on wishful thinking and model UN resolutions. It was built on leverage. On realism. On not pretending Hamas is a misunderstood political movement with âlegitimate grievances.â And lo and behold, it worked.
But sure, letâs pretend it was all part of Bidenâs 4D chess. As if the guy who canât remember who he shook hands with last week was out here running a multilateral negotiation strategy.
And just when you thought Blinken had exhausted his delusion supply, he tops it off by calling for â wait for it â the establishment of a Palestinian state.
Because apparently, nothing says âletâs fix thisâ like doubling down on the same fantasy thatâs failed for 30 years.
If youâve been paying attention, this is the part where your eyes roll involuntarily. Because for decades, the foreign policy elite have insisted thereâs no peace without a Palestinian state. Theyâve used it like a club â smacking down anyone who dared to suggest that perhaps, just maybe, peace could be built differently. Trump blew that up with the Abraham Accords, proving Arab nations will engage with Israel without giving Hamas a seat at the adult table.
But here comes Blinken, walking over the ashes of his own failed policies, trying to resurrect the same old dogma like it didnât just get steamrolled by reality.
Itâs like watching the guy who set the house on fire show up after the fire department finishes, holding a garden hose and demanding a medal.
And letâs be very clear: the only reason this deal is happening is because someone finally had the guts to stop listening to the foreign policy establishment. Trump tossed out their sacred cows, ignored the chorus of âyou canât do that,â and went straight to the source. Peace didnât happen by pandering â it happened by treating our enemies like enemies, not misunderstood allies-in-waiting.
Now they want credit?
Americans should remember this moment. Because when the people who caused the problem try to steal the win from the people who solved it, you know youâre not watching diplomacy. Youâre watching theater.
And not the good kind.
