Rep. Cori Bush (D-Mo.) says the fight against Abortion rights is âjust about control.â
During an interview with Joy Reid, Bush commented on the potential overturning of Roe v. Wade by the Supreme Court.
âThe decision is not written yet and so weâre still fighting now for folks like me who do live in states that have trigger bans. We understand whatâs going to happen and how immediate it is,â Bush said.
She continued, âWeâre thinking about that 13-year-old that would like to have an Abortion because however they became pregnant they know that this is not what they need right now.â
Bush argued, âIf they donât want to talk about us regulating their sperm, then donât talk about whatâs happening to our bodies and we shouldnât be talking about, we shouldnât be trying to regulate their sperm just the same way they shouldnât be trying to regulate our uteruses.â

Additionally, Bush suggested âopposition to Abortion care has never been about a baby.â
She added, âItâs never been about children because if it was, weâd have better resources for when the child is actually born, but so it was never about that. Itâs just about control.â
The âSquadâ member explained that âthereâs a reason why we donât see sperm regulation legislation.â
She went on, âThereâs a reason why we donât see mandated vasectomies. You know, the very idea that we would take away menâs bodily autonomy is outrageous, like itâs unfathomable, but truthfully sperm are busy. Itâs busy. Whoâs regulating that? Who is saying something about it? I didnât see the senator saying something about it and somewhere that legislation?â
According to Bush, there will ânever be especially if itâs up to them, because they donât see that as something thatâs needed because itâs about control and itâs not about children.â
On Wednesday, the Womenâs Health Protection Act failed to pass.
The bill would have codified the right to an Abortion.
President Joe Biden issued a statement responding to the vote.
âThis failure to act comes at a time when womenâs constitutional rights are under unprecedented attack â and it runs counter to the will of the majority of American people,â Biden said.
He added, âWe will continue to defend womenâs constitutional rights to make private reproductive choices as recognized in Roe v. Wade nearly half a century ago, and my Administration will continue to explore the measures and tools at our disposal to do just that.â
