The upcoming season of a long-running reality competition show will feature several interesting cast members, including a top staffer for a Democratic congresswoman.
Alex Moore, retiring Democratic Illinois Rep. Jan Schakowskyâs communications director, is one of 18 âcastawaysâ set to appear on the 49th season of âSurvivor,â according to Inside Survivor. In a trailer for the season featured on Entertainment Weekly, Moore is seen saying, âI work on Capitol Hill and I think that has prepared me for Survivor.â
Moore suggested his strategy is also linked to his current job because, as a communications director âone of favorite pastimes is kissing butt,â according to the season trailer.
Jacob Rubashkin of Inside Election calls the Democratic stafferâs participation in the reality show âLife in the House minority.â
Another Democratic Hill Staffer was voted off the Island in last fallâs âSurvivorâ season 47. Former Obama Speechwriter Jon Lovett was the first person voted out by the Gata team, according to NBC News. Lovett is well known as a co-host of the left-wing podcast, Pod Save America.
Jeff Probst, the programâs longtime host and showrunner, calls the seasonâs group of contestants âlikable and quirky.â
Other âcastawaysâ set to appear on the show include a man introducing himself in the trailer as âthe man, the myth, the legend R-I-Z-G-O-D, Riz God, babyâ and a woman who describes her plan to embody a mermaid who can âlure people in with words, and before they know it, theyâre drowning.â Another contestant describes herself as a cutthroat journalist who can easily âpulverise these suckers.â A law enforcement officerâs strategy involves ârun to the chaos.â
The seasonâs competitors will have to contend with âa Fijian summer so sweltering it feels like the jungle is breathing on you,â according to Probst.
While season 49 was filmed between April and May in Fiji, according to Screen Rant, âSurvivorâ 49 is not yet a confirmed part of CBSâs Fall 2025 lineup.
Schakowsky announced in a press release on May 5 that she will not seek reelection at the end of this term. Her statement came just over a month after a prominent left-wing social media influencer declared her intention to run for her seat.
Moore did not immediately respond to the Daily Caller News Foundationâs request for comment.
