Michael LaRosa, a former press secretary to former first lady Jill Biden, deleted his X account Monday after facing criticism over his support for a Republican Senate candidate during a tense C-SPAN appearance.
According to MediaIte, LaRosa has recently gained attention in conservative media for criticizing progressive Democrats and appearing on Fox News.
His political commentary has included attacks on members of his former party and support for Republican candidates.
During Sunday's episode of C-SPAN's "Washington Journal," several callers challenged LaRosa over his support for former Rep. Mike Rogers, the Republican Senate candidate in Michigan, rather than Democratic nominee Abdul El-Sayed.
One caller identified as Michael from Brooklyn questioned how LaRosa could call himself a Democratic strategist while backing a Republican in a race that could affect control of the Senate.
"You might as well be a Republican," the caller said. "Do you want to win the Senate back in 2026? The only way you're going to do it, you're gonna need Michigan."
The caller also accused LaRosa of unfairly targeting El-Sayed and asked, "What's wrong with you? Are you out of your mind?"
The exchange came as LaRosa's political activities have drawn additional attention. Journalist Justin Baragona of Zeteo reported Monday night that LaRosa had deleted his X account.
Baragona had previously reported that LaRosa works for Ballard Partners, a lobbying firm founded by Brian Ballard, a prominent fundraiser for President Donald Trump and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis.
Ballard Partners has an office in Israel, while El-Sayed has called for an end to U.S. foreign aid to Israel.
LaRosa has also made comments that have put him at odds with Democrats on other issues.
In February 2025, amid Elon Musk's efforts to dismantle the U.S. Agency for International Development, LaRosa said the move was "probably" illegal but argued Democrats should not make it a central political battle.
"We don't have power," LaRosa said at the time. "This is not the hill we wanna die on, right?"
He also said Americans generally do not support foreign aid, adding, "I learned this from watching The West Wing in the '90s."
LaRosa's support for Rogers has placed him in an unusual position as a former Biden administration official now backing a Republican candidate in a closely watched Senate race.
His decision to delete his X account came shortly after the C-SPAN appearance brought renewed attention to his political views.
