MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough is receiving backlash after making an argument about Abortion and Jesus Christ.

Scarborough made the argument during a segment of his show “Morning Joe.”

He explained, “As a Southern Baptist, I grew up reading the Bible, maybe backslidden Baptist, but I still know the Bible.”

Scarborough added, “Jesus never once talked about Abortion, never once and it was happening back in ancient times, it was happening back in his time. Never once mentioned it and for people perverting the gospel of Jesus Christ down to one issue, it’s heresy.”

He went on to tell viewers if that makes them “angry, why don’t you do something you haven’t done in a long time. Open the Bible, open the New Testament, read the red letters. You won’t see it there.”

The host went on, “And yet there are people who are using Jesus as a shield to make 10-year-old raped girls go through a living and breathing hell here on Earth. They’ve also conveniently overlooked the parts of the New Testament where Jesus talks about taking care of the needy. Taking care of helpless, who live a hopeless life. Because they believe, these state legislatures believe, that life begins at fertilization and ends at childbirth.”

Twitter users were quick to tell Scarborough why he is wrong.

Conservative commentator Allie Beth Stuckey tweeted, “This is an unsurprising yet Biblically illiterate, theologically shallow, & logically inept statement that only a non-Christian could make.”

Another wrote, “Who you gonna trust, Joe Scarborough or John Paul II: ‘The Gospel of life is at the heart of Jesus’ message. Lovingly received day after day by the Church, it is to be preached with dauntless fidelity as good news to the people of every age and culture.'”

This is not the first time Scarborough has commented on the issue of Abortion.

In May, he suggested the Republican Party is the party that does not give a “damn about those babies who are actually born and what happens to them after they are born.”

He continued, “It’s so hypocritical.”
