Bridget Reagan, an Ohio mother of three and local business owner, was killed over the weekend when a massive tree fell onto her SUV as she was driving along a highway, authorities said.

According to Fox News, Reagan was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol. Investigators are examining what caused the tree to fall, including whether saturated ground or decay played a role.

"We’re trying to determine whether or not the ground was saturated, if the tree was rotted or things like that — everything points to being an act of God," Lt. Johnnie Maier of the Ohio State Highway Patrol told WEWS.

"This could have happened to anybody, but in this case, it happened to a young lady with a family," Maier added.

Reagan was a familiar face in Minerva, where she owned Chic Haven, a boutique specializing in clothing and home décor. Her death prompted an outpouring of grief from residents, customers and fellow business owners.

The Minerva Area Chamber of Commerce described Reagan as a valued member of the local business community who brought "an incredible amount of energy, warmth, and joy" to those around her.

"Her presence touched so many people, and the impact she made throughout our community will not be forgotten," the chamber said.

Reagan was also known for supporting charitable causes.

In a Facebook post last year, she encouraged friends to celebrate her birthday by donating to SAVE22 Veterans, an Ohio nonprofit focused on supporting veterans and raising awareness about veteran suicide.

Chic Haven confirmed Reagan's death in a statement signed by her sister, Kelly, who described the loss as overwhelming.

"There are no words that could ever truly express the heartbreak and emptiness we are feeling," the post said.

The family said Reagan had poured "love, time, passion, and pieces of herself" into her business and touched countless people through it.

They also pledged to preserve the legacy she created.

A GoFundMe campaign established by Reagan's sister is raising money for funeral and memorial expenses while providing support for Reagan's three children.

"Bridget was a loving mother to three young children, and they were the center of her world," the fundraiser said.

Tributes have continued across social media, with friends and customers remembering Reagan for her kindness and willingness to help others.

Gardner Candle Co. also announced a memorial candle featuring a fragrance Reagan loved, with all profits going to her family.

"Some people leave a light behind that can never be dimmed. Bridget Reagan was one of those beautiful souls," the company wrote.
