There’s a saying that goes, “Politics makes strange bedfellows.”

Case in point — two U.S. senators from Pennsylvania.

Sens. John Fetterman (D-Pa.) and Dave McCormick (R-Pa.) may come from opposite sides of the aisle, but that didn't stop the pair from combining their fundraising efforts in advance of the 2026 midterms and 2028 election cycle.

A new political action committee called Common Ground PA was filed with the Federal Election Commission this week. It is sponsored by Fetterman and McCormick through two separate fundraising groups.

The two are friends, but their combining their fundraising efforts as members of opposing parties makes the collaboration a unique one in the world of political fundraising.

A spokesperson for McCormick told local outlet The Center Square the new PAC is based on donors who want to support both politicians.

“This group of donors value the collaboration exhibited by Senators McCormick and Fetterman for Pennsylvania and want to support both of them,” the spokesperson said.

Fetterman has agreed with Republicans on certain measures, but has also been adamant about staying a Democrat.

He has said he’d “be a terrible Republican” and that he still believes in many of the ideals of the Democratic Party.

Fetterman is up for reelection in 2028; McCormick in 2030. Both are in their first term in the upper chamber.

Pennsylvania is a swing state in presidential elections. It is also one of the few Senate delegations with a bipartisan duo.
