Pair of Florida Residents Plead Guilty to Stealing Diary Belonging to Biden’s Daughter

Two residents of Florida pleaded guilty after stealing a diary and other items that belong to President Joe Biden’s daughter, Ashley Biden.

On Thursday, the Department of Justice issued a statement announcing that Aimee Harris, 40, and Robert Kurlander, 58, “Pled guilty to conspiracy to commit interstate transportation of stolen property involving the theft of personal belongings of an immediate family member of a then-former government official who was a candidate for national political office.”

U.S. Attorney Damian Williams explained that the pair “stole personal property from an immediate family member of a candidate for national political office. They sold the property to an organization in New York for $40,000 and even returned to take more of the victim’s property when asked to do so.”

The statement continues, “Harris and Kurlander sought to profit from their theft of another person’s personal property, and they now stand convicted of a federal felony as a result.”

The department explained that Ashley Biden had stored “a handwritten journal containing highly personal entries, tax records, a digital storage card containing private family photographs, and a cellphone, among other things, in a private residence” in Florida.

According to the statement, Harris was temporarily residing at the location.

After Harris took the items, she “enlisted” Kurlander to help her sell them.

They eventually each received $20,000 for the stolen property from an organization, according to the department.

As part of their plea agreements, Harris and Kurlander agreed to forfeit the $20,000.

Additionally, Kurlanda agreed to cooperate with the government.

CNBC noted that neither Biden is mentioned by name in the charging document.

However, as the outlet explained, the details line up with previous reports about an investigation into the theft of the diary.

CNBC pointed out that the theft occurred just weeks before the presidential election in 2020.

The outlet also identified the organization as the right-wing group Project Veritas.

Federal prosecutors said former President Donald Trump’s presidential campaign refused an offer to buy the diary.
