Former U.S. womenâs Soccer star Megan Rapinoe is taking aim at Christians for expressing outrage at one of her comments about God.
During an interview on the âPablo Torre Finds Outâ podcast, Rapinoe discussed an injured she suffered during the National Womenâs Soccer League Championship in 2023.
âIt is sad,â Rapinoe said, adding, âI wish that didnât happen.âÂ
She went on:
âIâm just thinking about my teammates coming over and â of course, itâs sad, but itâs also like â I donât know, itâs kind of just like life. We want these perfect stories, and Iâm like a controversial figure and having people low-key celebrate it. But then also be so disingenuous about it that that part is kinda funny, too.â
Rapinoe also suggested people who laughed at her injury âare in a special place in hell.â

Rapinoe then took aim at her critics who expressed outrage over her comment the injury was âproofâ that there isnât a God.
âSomebody needs to check on the Christians. Theyâre not OK,â she quipped. They also missed the whole joke, but OK.â
She continued, âDonât act like A: youâre surprised by me making this joke about what happened or finding a dig. Whoâs it at? God, myself, religion, the world? I donât know.â
âItâs just funny,â Rapinoe claimed.
Speaking about her injury at the time in November, Rapinoe said, âIâm not a religious person or anything and if there was a God, like, this is proof that there isnât.â
âThis is f***ed up. Itâs just f***ed up. Six minutes in and I eat my Achilles,â she added.
