An exorcist priest spoke about the dangers of using Ouija boards to contact the dead.
In an interview with Fox News Digital, the Rev. Dan Reehil of the Diocese of Nashville spoke about the spiritual world.
âWe too often forget that there is much more to this world than meets the eye. Angels, demons, spirits, and souls do exist and they can have an impact on our life,â he said.
In 2018, Reehil received exorcism training at Ateneo Pontificio Regina Apostolorum in Rome, Italy.
He explained that an exorcist âis a priest chosen and installed by a bishop to exercise the office of deliverance ministry. Exorcism is a specific form of prayer that the Church uses against the power of the devil.â
âDemons lie and impersonate dead people. When asking a board for information about a deceased person, or a life decision, they are all too happy to embed themselves into your life,â Reehil said.
He continued, âUsing an Ouija Board is inviting a demon into your life, whether the person has that intention or not.â
According to the Library of Congress, the first Ouija Board was created in 1886 in Chestertown, Maryland. The talking board âis a board printed with letters and numbers that uses a sliding pointer to spell out messages in a mysterious way.â
âOuija boards should not be viewed in the same way as a typical board game,â Reehil stated. âAlthough it is advertised as a game, it is far from it.â
Furthermore, he referred to the tool as âa form of divination.â
Ecclesiastes 9:5 says, âFor the living know that they will die, but the dead know nothing, and they have no more reward, for the memory of them is forgotten.â
Reehil also noted divination and other occult practices are condemned in the Bible countless times.
âThe very action of using has profound spiritual consequences beyond our control,â he said.
Additionally, Reehil emphasized, âWhenever we seek to engage demons, we move away from the One True God.â
âStay away from all forms of occult practices â and stay close to God,â he shared.
