President Donald Trump alleged a deal with Iran is “imminent.”

Trump said while talking with reporters Sunday aboard Air Force One that talks to finalize the agreement will start Monday

The president noted the U.S. will get the two things — the full reopening of the Strait of Hormuz and a guarantee Iran will never obtain a nuclear weapon.

Over this past weekend, Trump said he was ready for a full-blown assault against Iran.

That was called it off after Iran pleaded for him to abort the mission. Trump said Saudi Arabia and other Middle Eastern countries also asked him to abort the mission.

“I’m not looking to kill people, ’cause people die,” Trump said Sunday. “A lot of people die. And we don’t want that.”

He said the strike mission  was going to be the “biggest attack since World War II.”

Trump said Sunday the “perimeters of a deal” had been agreed to.

His recent announcement came after he said the U.S. planned on ramping up its strikes on Iran.

“We will be hitting them very hard,” Trump said during a press conference Friday at Camp David. “And you know at some point, they’re going to say, ‘We just can’t take it anymore.’”

The U.S. and Iran reached a 60-day ceasefire agreement in mid-June, which did not hold after Iran hit a Cyprus-flagged ship in the Strait of Hormuz. This lead to nearly two straight weeks of retaliatory strikes from the U.S.

On Sunday, Trump said he was hopeful any peace agreement will stick this time.

“We will see,” he said. “I would love to do that and save a lot of lives.”
