President Donald Trump has “left instructions” of what to do if he is assassinated by Iran.
“I’ve been on their list for a long time. That’s what we’re dealing with,” he told The New York Post Friday. “… The only thing is, I’ve left instructions — if anything happens, to just literally bomb them at levels that they’ve never seen before.”
That was Trump’s response when asked about reports from Israel of a plot to assassinate him.
He noted Iran has wanted him dead for years.
“No, no. Israel came up with nothing. No, no,” he said. “I’ve been No. 1 [on Iran’s kill list] for a long time, and it’s the way life is, you know.”
“I hope you’ll miss me,” he added.
Trump has been on Iran’s hit list since 2020, when Trump directed the attack that killed Iranian military officer Qasem Soleimani.
There have also been multiple assassination attempts against Trump since a bullet grazed his ear at a political rally in Butler, Pennsylvania on July 13, 2024.
Iran’s anti-Trump rhetoric has been amped recently. During the funeral for the killed supreme leader, Iranian demonstrators carried banners calling for Trump’s murder.
Trump called off the US-Iran cease-fire and the memorandum of understanding after Iran fired on three ships in the Strait of Hormuz Monday and Tuesday.
Trump then removed the U.S. waiver on Iranian oil sanctions and launched nearly 200 strikes across Iran Tuesday and Wednesday.
The president also swapped planes on his route home from the NATO Summit in Ankara, Turkey, Wednesday. The White House later said the plane sway it was a security tactic to ensure Trump’s safety.
“As the President has said recently, there are many enemies of America who have their sights on him, and we use every tool at our disposal — including distraction and misdirection — to address those threats,” White House Communications Director Steven Cheung said in a statement Thursday.
