A pair of New Yearâs twins were due at the end of January but decided to make their own independent entrances into the world over the New Yearâs holiday.
According to 6 ABC Action News WPVI TV, Baby Ezra was born at 11:48 p.m. on New Yearâs Eve. He weighed exactly 6 pounds in Virtua Voorhees Hospital in New Jersey.
His little brother, Ezekiel, was not born until after the first of the year at 12:28 a.m., weighing 4 lbs. 15 oz.
New Yearâs Eve is also the fatherâs, Billy Humphreyâs, birthday. He said that while his wife was in labor, âIâm like â what a great birthday gift!â
âI get two boys on my birthday. We came in early enough on that day that I was thinking, âOK, maybe this is going to happen?ââ he added.Â
The mother, Eve, described her surprise when she learned they were expecting twins. She said, âThe doctor was like, âWell, thereâs two heartbeats.â And I was like, âLet me see. I donât believe you. And I was in shock.â
She joked that after their first son was born, she was âthinking of the tax write-off, I was like, âMaybe we can get another tax write-off!ââ
She noted that the labor continued through into the New Yearâs celebration.
âI was still pushing when everyoneâs doing the countdown and we just all said, âHappy New Yearâ in the middle of me trying to push,â she said.
Mr. Humphrey stated, âI just know theyâre going to be world changers. And they couldnât share the same day, right? They needed their own spotlight.â
Eve also added, âSeeing them in person and seeing their faces â theyâre so cute. Iâm so glad theyâre healthy.â
The family has plenty to celebrate with so many birthdays this time of year, and to add to their festivities, they also have a soon-to-be 3-year-old named Hezekiah, who was born on Jan. 3.Â
